Seren Evans -Charrington
Seren Evans-Charrington now (Seren Charrington-Hollins) is a professional Food Historian, period cook, broadcaster, writer and consultant. She has worked as a consultant on food history for big brands including Kenwood and has been featured in ITV’s Country House Sunday, Holiday of a Lifetime with Len Goodman and BBC4’s Castle’s Under Siege. Last year she was broadcast on over twenty national and local radio stations including BBC Wales, BBC Gloucester, BBC Guernsey, BBC Three Counties and Yorkshire Coast Radio.
Her work has been featured in Period Living Magazine, Telegraph, Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and Great British Food Magazine. She has written articles on food and social history for Pretty Nostalgic, Evergreen and People’s Friend and writes a monthly column for The Countryman as well as being a monthly feature writer for Vintage Life and Home Farmer.
In addition to television and radio appearances she also gives live cookery demonstrations at historic houses, castles and food festivals. Her passion for food and food history is apparent in her presentation and her knowledge extends from the Medieval Period through to modern food trends.
In addition to her extensive knowledge and practical skills in all food history matters she is also a specialist in the history of brands and shop keeping, having both acted as a consultant in this field and having written many published articles on the subject, in addition to having an enviable collection of period food, confectionary and domestic household packaging.
Holding awards for her skills in pie making, marmalade production and jam making, she is a well-seasoned and competent cook that specialises in traditional British dishes and in all food preserving techniques throughout the ages.
Describing my work through just one job title is difficult; because my professional life sees me wear a few hats: Food Historian, period cook, broadcaster, writer and consultant.
I have a great passion for social and food history and in addition to researching food history and trends I have also acted as a consultant on domestic life and changes throughout history for a number of International Companies.
